Help us…

Mehmet Ali Dari is a maverick businessman. He is one of the few people who continues to invest his time and money into Herne Bay. He transforms derelict and rundown buildings into thriving restaurants, which both locals and tourists flock to. He is one of the biggest employers in Herne Bay.

During lockdown,  he responded to covid restrictions, creating a beautiful outdoor space at his restaurant - A La Turka, which is on the seafront.

Despite his ownership of the land, Kent County Council have served a demolition order in order to gain access to manhole covers located within this area. Within the last 3 years, access to these areas has not been required.

I now call upon supporters to sign this petition, to give Mehmet some more time to negotiate access to the manhole covers/adapt the existing structure to a mutually agreeable set up.  Serving this notice and actioning this demolition is unreasonable and would be a waste of tax payers money. This is totally unacceptable at anytime let alone in a cost of living crisis.  Cut the red tape KCC and do the right thing.
